How do I send a newsletter with PHPlist?

We recommend PHPList is a one-way email announcement delivery system. It is great for newsletters, publicity lists, notifications, and many other uses. It allows you to have multiple lists so newsletters send out to different groups of people.

Login Information

You shoud have received an email containing your logon URL and information. Please print this email or write it down somewhere where so it can be easily accessed.

e.g. either http://www.yourdomain.com/lists/admin or http://list.yourdomain.com.au/admin
Username: as provided
Password: as provided

To recover your password, visit the above URL and enter your email address which will be of the format newsletters@yourdomain.com.au (where “yourdomain” is your website address).

Send a Message using your pre-configured template

1.    Click on ‘Send a Message’ in the menu on the right.
2.    Give the message a ‘Subject’- this will be the first thing the recipient sees in their inbox.
3.    ‘From Line’ is filled in automatically, change this if required.
4.    Then type or paste in your text/image content. Use as little formatting as possible as some users may opt for ‘text only’ newsletters.
a.    Use [FIRSTNAME] and [LASTNAME] to automatically add in recipient information. (Attributes must be configured first)
b.    Use the ‘Format’ dropdown menu Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3 for preconfigured headings.
c.    Inserting images- Images must be uploaded to the web server prior to being used in an email message.
5.    Once you have finished, scroll to the bottom and click ‘Save Changes’.
6.    Click on the ‘Scheduling’ tab.
7.    To send immediately leave as is, or set your preferred send time.
8.    Click on the ‘Lists’ tab.
9.    Tick the List/s which are to receive the message.
10.  To send click “Send Message to the Selected Mailinglists” to send.
