Louise Sauvage 'Aspire to be a Champion' Foundation announces its 2008 Grant Program

Creating dreams for future Australian Champions

The 'Aspire to be a Champion' Foundation Grant Program is a funding initiative providing selected athletes with financial assistance for competition, training, equipment and travel expenses - actually anything an athlete may need to participate and compete in their chosen sport.

You are invited to nominate an aspiring athlete with a disability who meets the criteria and conditions outlined below.

The grants will be allocated by Louise in association with the official Selection Committee.

Note: Grants will be presented to recipients by their State or National sporting body on behalf of the Foundation.

Criteria for Athlete Grants

•  Athletes may be nominated by a fellow athlete, member of their sports association or by family and friends.

•  A team or individual athlete may be nominated.

•  Nominees must currently be in training for competition.

•  A 12-month program as to how the grant will assist in achieving the nominee's goal must be provided. Details of how the funds will be utilised will also be required to be submitted.

•  Recipients of a grant must provide monthly updates of their progress. By accepting the grant, you are providing consent that these updates may be published on the 'Aspire to be a Champion' website and that all information and documentation submitted remains the property of the Foundation.

•  Louise Sauvage will work in association with a professional Selection Committee of which the Committee's decisions will be final and influenced by nothing except the nominated individual's or team's aspirations to achieve their sporting goals.

Grant Conditions

Nominees must:

•  Be an Australian permanent resident.

•  Be a resident of their State for at least six (6) months.

•  Be a current financial member of an appropriate State/National Disabled Sporting Association.

•  Have no outstanding debts with their State/National Sporting Association.

•  Agree to the terms and conditions as specified in the Grant Agreement (issued upon successful application).

Grant Terms

•  The term of the grant will be one year commencing 1 January of that year and concluding 31st December. Grant recipients will be advised of the success of their nomination in December of the nomination year.

Grant Applications

•  To nominate an individual or team for a grant, complete the form below and provide the support documentation as detailed in the grant criteria.

•  All applications must be submitted to grants@aspire.au.com or to PO Box 1114 MEADOWBANK NSW 2114 by no later than midnight on the 31st December 2007. Late applications will not be accepted and Louise or the Foundation will take no responsibility for nominations not received.

•  Successful recipients will be notified in writing personally by Louise.

Value of Athlete Grants

•  The value of an 'Aspire to be a Champion' Athlete Grant will be up to AUD$2,000.00 for individuals and AUD$5,000.00 for teams. The Selection Committee will make the final assessment and allocation.

Grant Benefits - Administration details

•  All grants will be administered through the Wheelchair Sports NSW and funds allocated accordingly.
